The Sales of Subsidized Federal Government Rice in Ijebu-Ode: Only For Groups, Not Individuals.

Gov. Abiodun

The sales of subsidized FG rice ongoing at Ijebu-ode, Ogun East Senatorial District as effort of the Gov. Dapo Abiodun to promote livelihood and alleviate economic challenges is not meant for all residents as presupposed but rather for certified groups or organizations who had been preregistered at the state level.

Gov Dapo Abiodun
Sagebitsonline in a visit to Ijebuode local government where the sales activities are exercised on Monday, 15th 2024 found that the rice is only sold to groups of people who have registered their interests with the Ogun State Head of Service. These groups are basically civil servants from various local governments areas under the senatorial district and marketers or traditional groups around the district (regbe regbe).
It was observed that individuals who just appeared to indicate interest had no chance of registering, nor paying for the rice either they have NIN or not. While some who belong to more than one group had the benefit more than once inspite of the strict consideration based on NIN.

However, aside the delayed resumption of state staff that were coordinating the exercise to the sales venue the exercise went smoothly as at the time of this report.
Groups still have to submit their NIN for verification and pay individually with their ATM the sum of #40,000 for 50kg bag of rice.

It was also observed that some of the bags of rice were in 25kg but at that instance the buyer gets two instead of one and the delivery of the rice is taken about 72hrs later at another location.

Answering the question of some buyers who were still skeptical about the quality of the rice, some who have tasted the rice attested to the fact that it is of high quality and without stones or particles.

Although, many who benefited were elated and blessed with the successful purchase, some individuals who has no group and has not been preregistered went back home disappointed, while some kept lingering around hoping to find a solution to equally benefit.
