The founder of Pentecoster Sanctuary Bible Ministry has expressed strong criticism against prophets who take pride in delivering negative prophecies and celebrating their fulfillments. He emphasized that such prophecies should be met with prayer and intercession rather than self-glorification.
Addressing reporters at a press conference held at the church premises in Odo-Egbo, Ijebu-Ode, last week, he responded to concerns about why some prophets focus more on the fulfillment of negative prophecies rather than their non-fulfillment.
He pointed out that God does not take pleasure in the death of sinners but desires their repentance and salvation, citing the biblical example of Jonah. While acknowledging that not all prophecies are subject to prayer—particularly those that align with God’s divine plan to subdue Satan and fulfill His purpose—he stressed that many negative prophecies should be countered through intercession.
The prophet explained that the core purpose of every prophecy from God is to serve as a warning and to prepare His people for what is to come. However, he lamented that some prophets exploit their prophetic gifts to gain popularity or amplify their voices. Quoting scripture, he remarked, “By their fruits, we shall know them.”
Clarifying his stance and that of his ministry, he affirmed that whenever a negative prophecy is received concerning the church, an individual, the nation, or the world at large, he gathers his congregation in prayer against it. He noted that while some adversities cannot be entirely averted, those who engage in prayer often receive grace to endure and overcome challenges.
Giving glory to God for another milestone of grace, mercy, and faithfulness in the history of the ministry, the prophet reflected on its journey from its humble beginnings on March 11, 1996, to its present-day status. He declared the theme of the year’s convention as “El Shaddai.”
When asked about the significance of the theme, especially in light of the economic downturn in Nigeria and globally, Prophet Iyunade explained that many people serve a God they do not truly know.
He emphasized that God is all-sufficient, more than enough, and the ultimate provider. He urged believers to build their faith and understand that they do not need to turn to other small gods in times of hardship. Instead, by loving, trusting, and obeying God, He will guide and direct them into supernatural abundance.
According to the prophet, the theme “El Shaddai” will help the church stay focused on God in its teachings and activities, strengthening faith and trust in Him for divine provision and breakthrough.
He encouraged all members of the church, both local and abroad, as well as the community at large, to participate in the week-long activities marking the 29th-year convention. The event includes a rally on Sunday, March 16, Revival Hours from Monday, March 17 to Thursday, March 20 at the church headquarters, Ministers and Workers Conferences in the mornings from Tuesday, March 18 to Thursday, March 20, a Praise Night on Friday, March 21 at the church’s campground, Zion City along Atan Eruwon Road, and a grand Thanksgiving service on Sunday, March 23 at the same venue.
It is also noteworthy to mention that Prophet Iyunade has a track record of fulfilled prophecies. He urged everyone to prepare for a sudden emergence of newly generated ideas that will make the world a better place to live in. He predicted a surge in creative innovations and inventions over the next ten years.
He further emphasized that the election of Donald Trump was a fulfillment of a previous prophecy he made. According to him, Trump’s tenure was divinely orchestrated to checkmate the excesses of world powers, stop the atrocities promoted by the devil, and dismantle certain terrorist groups. He also prophesied that during Trump’s administration, Israel would be empowered. Additionally, he admonished Christians to appreciate God for using Trump to restrain the global influence of LGBT movements.
Regarding Nigeria, the prophet asserted that no secession attempt in any part of the country would succeed. He stated that any nation funding secessionist movements would be disappointed, as such efforts would ultimately be futile.
He affirmed that Nigeria would remain united because its unity aligns with God’s agenda at this time. He also predicted that the current administration would introduce policies aimed at correcting previous economic anomalies, despite ongoing challenges.
Among his prophecies concerning the church, he stated that Christian leaders would have limited influence in the present dispensation due to the prevalence of false prophecies in the past.
Prophet Iyunade concluded by urging believers to remain steadfast in faith, trust in God’s divine plan, and participate actively in the convention as a time of spiritual renewal and transformation.
