Baba Oluneye Okuboyejo: A Living Legend — Gov. Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described the 92-year-old Chairman of the Ogun State Government’s Elders Advisory Council (OGSGEAC), Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo, as a living legend whose values and integrity remain worthy examples for younger generations.

The Governor made this remark at the public presentation of Baba Okuboyejo’s biography titled “Olu Okuboyejo: Ijebu Icon,” authored by Dr. Layo Adeniyi, and launched at Ejirin Road, Ijebu-Ode.

Speaking through his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun noted that the occasion was more than a book launch — it was a celebration of a man whose life embodies service, humility, and commitment.
“Though the book calls him an Ijebu Icon, we call him a living legend,” the Governor said, describing Chief Okuboyejo as a rare public servant whose loyalty and support for the state remain invaluable.

Presenting the celebrant’s citation, the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, hailed Baba Okuboyejo — fondly known as “The Last Man Standing” — as the oldest living retired Permanent Secretary in the state. He highlighted his distinguished career as a technocrat and economic strategist, noting that his legacy is “permanently etched in the sands of time.”

Also speaking, the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Adefuwape Okuribido, described the celebrant as “a proud son of Ijebu land” whose entire life has been dedicated to community service and development. He added that the new book would continue to inspire both present and future generations.

In an emotional remark, Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo expressed gratitude to God for the grace to witness the celebration of his life and service. He described himself as “a product of grace” and pledged to devote his remaining years to humanity.

Governor Abiodun later unveiled the 238-page, 11-chapter biography to the delight of the audience.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Ogun State Executive Council, traditional rulers, clergy, senior public servants, captains of industry, and other dignitaries from far and near.
