The Chairman of the Four Ruling Houses of Ijebu-Ode and Olori-Ebi of the Anikilaya Ruling House, Prince Taheeb Mabadeje Alaga, has called on the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to reconcile its differences and work in harmony ahead of producing the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
In an open letter personally signed and released to journalists on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Prince Mabadeje urged unity among members of the Fusengbuwa family. The letter, titled “A Candid Appeal to Fusengbuwa Ruling House,” was also copied to Prince Adedokun Ajidagba and Chief Lateef Owoyemi.
Expressing concern over the division, Prince Mabadeje said the ancestors would not rejoice at the sight of their children torn apart over the stool of leadership.
“It saddens me to hear of the present disagreement within the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, our next ruling house to produce the Awujale of Ijebuland, following the glorious reign and recent passing of our beloved Awujale, Oba (Dr.) S. K. Adetona,” he wrote.
He emphasised that the late monarch’s reign was marked by peace and dignity, urging the Fusengbuwa family to emulate that example by presenting a consensus candidate worthy of the revered throne.
“The Fusengbuwa family is large and richly blessed, and no ancestor would rejoice to see his children divided. Unity must prevail,” Mabadeje stressed, adding that history would record today’s actions either as wisdom or discord.
Concluding his appeal, the 82-year-old elder prayed for reconciliation, saying:
“I humbly and prayerfully appeal to you both and to all concerned factions to reconcile and unite for the sake of our descendants and to the glory of our ancestors. May Almighty Allah guide your hearts and grant you the wisdom to act in peace.”
