Senator Adeola Will Boost Sports, Infrastructure in Ogun State – DG Sports Commission, Olopade

By Editor

Following the massive affirmation of Senator Olamilekan Adeola as the consensus candidate of the governorship primary of All Progressives Congress, APC, Ogun State, the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, declared that the state was on the verge of being blessed with another great governor and leader.

Olopade stated this while speaking with journalists at the Centenary Hall, Ake, Abeokuta, where the results from Abeokuta South Local Government were collated and announced.

According to him, “Even before everybody saw it, we had been saying that the best for the state would come when Yayi emerges. For me, I believed the human angle, Yayi’s style of leadership, which has permeated the state and resonated everywhere for close to 11 or 12 years, was enough evidence to show that this is a man, a politician, a family man, and a public figure who genuinely cares about the people.

“Many people may say they want to contest, and you begin to wonder how to assess their character. But we have spent close to 12 years closely monitoring Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

“So, when I publicly endorsed him sometime early last year, it was based on the conviction that his intellect, apart from his grassroots appeal, is what Ogun State requires to move forward after Governor Dapo Abiodun.”

Speaking further on what Ogun State stands to gain under Yayi’s leadership, Olopade said, “It is more or less a situation of understanding the fact that Ogun State is about to be blessed with another great governor and leader.

“His humility, respect for institutions and people, as well as his love for the masses, are the major qualities Yayi possesses, and these will continue to pave the way for him in society.

“He must continue to remain kind and generous because generosity is what will inspire him to build the roads needed for the economy to thrive. Generosity is also what will drive him to invest in the capacity development of young people.”

On sports development, Olopade expressed confidence that Yayi would perform well in the sector.

“My forte and industry is sports, and I know Yayi will be good for sports,” he said.

He, however, urged residents to join Senator Adeola and the federal government in building a sporting state and a “nation within a nation” that would make Ogun State the hub of sports development while empowering thousands of young indigenes.
