* Urge Nigerians to stand by their votes

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State on Wednesday kick start Presidential and National Assembly campaigns in Abeokuta, the State capital.
They also asked Nigerians, especially residents of the State to remain vigilant after casting their votes and to follow the process through to the collation centres to safeguard their ballots.
The party noted that voters should not leave polling units immediately after voting, but stay to ensure their votes are properly counted and transmitted.
They made the appeal at the official flag off its campaigns for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Chairman of the State Presidential Campaign Committee, and Ogun PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, assured residents that happy days are coming.
He expressed optimism that Nigerians would once again experience improved living conditions.
“I know the happy days are coming again in January. By the grace of God, the leader in Nigeria has asked me to say one prayer. The prayer is that we shall banish poverty.”
He urged PDP supporters to remain committed to the party and ensure that their votes count during the election, calling on them to resist intimidation and stand firmly behind their choices at the polls.
Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo who is the PDP deputy Governorship candidate in the State, urged residents not to be intimidated during the exercise, insisting that that elections are about the people and their right to choose their leaders.
Her words: “After voting don’t say that your are done and leave. Cast your vote and stay with it at the polling unit. Stand by your vote, follow them to the collation center.
Do not be intimidated, the vote is for the people, so let’s come out and exercise our franchise. May Godd give us the victory. Vote for PDP from the top to the bottom”.
Also, the Senatorial candidate of the Party, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, in her remarks stated that her drive to return the senatorial district to its pride of place neccesitated her return to the PDP, after her short sojourn at the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The former president, Olusegun Obasanjo daughter noted that having served in the same capacity in 2007-2011, she was shocked that her successes has been eroded by successive representatives.
“My desire to take back our senatorial district to where it was when I represented it is reason why I came back to the PDP, and take up the challenge of restoring our lost glories”, she said
The house of reps candidates, Dele Olaleye and Toyin Amuzu appealed to the electorates to vote them, assuring them of dividend of democracy if elected.
The State Chairman of PDP, Abayomi Tella, noted all the PDP candidates are tested and can be trusted.
The Tracker reports that the PDP started the Presidential and National Assembly campaigns at Ogbe junction and Ake to formally begin the electioneering at Ogun Central Senatorial district of the State.
The PDP also held rally around major streets of the State capital.
