As part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Hon. Olarenwaju Bashorun, has unveiled 655 Polling Booth Lords under his LarryBash Polling Unit Lords initiative.
Bashorun unveiled the Polling Booth Lords on Thursday during a mobilisation event aimed at consolidating support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun West Senator, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and other APC candidates.
The initiative, according to Bashorun, is designed to establish a strong grassroots structure capable of taking the policies, programmes and achievements of the APC-led administration directly to voters across polling units in Ado-Odo/Ota and beyond.
He said the Polling Booth Lords would serve as the party’s frontline mobilisers within their respective communities, engaging residents, addressing concerns and encouraging greater participation in the electoral process.
Bashorun said the unveiling followed the earlier inauguration of about 200 ambassadors under the LarryBash initiative, describing the latest development as another step towards building a formidable grassroots political structure.
He urged the Polling Booth Lords to use their knowledge of their respective communities to communicate the achievements of the APC government effectively and mobilise voters for the party’s candidates across all levels of government.
“Your responsibility is not just to mobilise people on election day. You are expected to engage your people, explain the programmes and achievements of our party and ensure that our message gets to every household and every polling unit,” Bashorun said.
While urging APC supporters to remain committed to the party, the APC candidate said the achievements of the Tinubu administration in infrastructure and other sectors would strengthen the party’s appeal to voters.
He cited the ongoing construction of the Sokoto-Badagry road and other major infrastructure projects as examples of initiatives capable of stimulating economic activities, improving connectivity and creating employment opportunities.
According to him, the economic benefits of such projects go beyond the physical construction of roads, as improved infrastructure would facilitate the movement of people and agricultural produce, connect communities to markets and attract new investments.
“When discussing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies, it goes far beyond a single project like the Sokoto road. You have to look at the economy as a whole.
“Talk about what he has been able to do for students, what he has been able to do in the energy sector and what he has done across various sectors of the economy. He has touched everywhere,” he said.
Bashorun also commended Tinubu for what he described as interventions in Ogun State, while acknowledging the contributions of Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Adeola to the development of the state and Ogun West Senatorial District.
He specifically mentioned Adeola’s interventions in education, markets, healthcare and road infrastructure, saying they had impacted communities across the district.
Bashorun expressed confidence that the APC’s performance at the federal, state and senatorial levels would make the party’s grassroots mobilisation easier.
He appealed to voters in Ado-Odo/Ota to support continuity by voting for President Tinubu, Senator Adeola, himself and other APC candidates.
“My message to voters across the board is simple: you have seen what Senator Yayi, the Governor and the President have accomplished. Let us maintain this momentum and ensure continuity,” he said.
Also speaking, a prominent APC leader in Yewa, Chief Duro Ayedogbon, expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in Ogun State, particularly Ogun West.
Ayedogbon said he was almost 90 per cent certain that APC candidates would record a landslide victory in Ogun West, attributing his optimism to the level of mobilisation and commitment among party members.
He said the support being mobilised for Senator Adeola and other APC leaders was a demonstration of commitment to the party’s entire ticket.
In his welcome address, the APC Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Jay Jay Akeran, said the LarryBash initiative was not solely for Bashorun but was structured to benefit all APC candidates.
Akeran commended party members for their loyalty and commitment, urging them to sustain the mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He identified voter apathy as one of the challenges confronting the electoral process, saying the party would continue with grassroots sensitisation and direct engagement to encourage residents to participate actively in elections.
Akeran said the enthusiasm recorded during the party’s grassroots outreach demonstrated that sustained engagement and voter education could re-energise the electorate and translate into increased participation at the polls.
