Bringing Hope Closer: FG Reaffirms Promise to Complete Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway

The Federal Government has restated its commitment to the timely completion of Section three of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, a key infrastructure project spanning 61 kilometers in Enugu State.

This assurance was given by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during an inspection visit to the project site. The visit was part of the ongoing Citizens’ Engagement tour across the South East region.

Idris emphasized that modern and reliable road infrastructure is critical to Nigeria’s economic development, public safety, and the general well-being of its citizens.

“This project is a visible testament to government’s resolve to complete strategic highways nationwide for the benefit of Nigerians,” he stated.

The road, a 61-kilometre dual carriageway (122 km total), is being constructed by CGC Nigeria Limited at a cost of ₦100.8 billion. According to the Director of Highways (Southeast), Engineer Tony Mbiko, the Enugu-bound section has already been completed, while construction continues on the remaining stretch.

The project is part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to upgrading transportation infrastructure across the country
