The Dangote Group has confirmed that one of its trucks was involved in an accident that severely injured Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.
The crash occurred in Auchi, Edo State, leaving Ruth with injuries so severe that her leg had to be amputated.
In a statement, the company said it would cover her medical expenses in full and provide compensation in accordance with its welfare policy. Senior officials from Dangote Cement Plc and its insurance team have visited Ruth and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital to offer support and ensure her well-being.
Phyna had earlier taken to social media to demand justice for her sister, sparking public outrage and calls for accountability. Several Nollywood stars, including Kate Henshaw, have joined the campaign.
“Our thoughts remain with Mrs. Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery,” the statement read. “We are ensuring full support for her, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation.”
