A former surgeon, Joel Le Scouarnec, 74, is set to go on trial later this month, facing charges of raping or sexually assaulting nearly 300 former patients, mostly children, over a period of 25 years in western France. This case is considered one of the most horrific cases of sexual abuse in France.
