Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced plans to commence construction of the road leading to the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Ajibayo village, Ajebo road, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
The governor made this disclosure while hosting the Board members of the Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, led by the Board Chairman, Dr. Dayo Israel.
He emphasized that his administration has been committed to providing healthcare services to the people of Ogun State.
According to Governor Abiodun, the construction project will be undertaken in partnership with the Federal Government but he assured that the partnership will ensure the successful completion of the project within the next few months.
The governor noted that the access road to the health institution has been in a deplorable state, but his administration is determined to change the narrative, stating that the reconstruction of the road will not only improve access to the institution but also enhance the overall healthcare services in the state.
Governor Abiodun commended the new Board Chairman, Dr. Israel, for his vision and approach to stakeholder engagement and assured him that his administration would continue to partner with the health institution to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Ogun State.
The governor also disclosed that his administration has been working tirelessly to improve the healthcare infrastructure in the state, citing the example of the Denro-Ishashi road and the Epe-Ijebu-Ode road, which have been reconstructed to improve access to healthcare facilities.
Dr. Israel, in his remarks, expressed his gratitude to Governor Abiodun for the warm reception.explaining that his goal is to build on the foundation laid by the previous administration and take the Federal Medical Center to the next level.
The Board Chairman emphasized that he would work towards providing strategic leadership for the management, as well as provide strategic visioning and direction to increase resources, revenue, and funding for the institution.
Dr. Israel also commended Governor Abiodun for the massive infrastructural development going on across the state. He acknowledged the governor’s efforts in improving the healthcare infrastructure and assured that the Federal Medical Center would continue to partner with the state government to provide quality healthcare services.
The governor’s announcement has been hailed as a welcome development by the people of Ogun State. They expressed their gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his commitment to improving the healthcare services in the state.
