The Iseja Ruling Families of Mobalufon have publicly disclaimed and condemned the claims of Mr. Jimoh Oshin as Moguniseja of Mobalufon, asserting that his declaration is false, unauthorized, and contrary to both tradition and law.
In a press release jointly signed by representatives of the Ilumoka, Demuren, and Oludipe houses, the families categorically stated that Mr. Oshin has not been nominated, selected, or approved by any of the legitimate ruling houses that make up the Iseja lineage — the only body traditionally and legally recognized to determine the holder of the Moguniseja title.
According to the release, “Mr. Jimoh Oshin’s continued self-proclamation as Moguniseja constitutes a grave affront to our heritage, customs, and lawful succession procedures.”
The Iseja families have called on the Ogun State Government, the Odogbolu Local Government, the Ijebu Traditional Council, media organizations, and the general public to disregard and withhold any recognition or respect toward Mr. Oshin in connection with the chieftaincy title. They warned that acknowledging his claim would be “misleading, unlawful, and a violation of the rotational chieftaincy arrangements” of the Iseja Ruling Families.
In a significant development, the families also revealed that the matter is now the subject of ongoing litigation. The case, which challenges Mr. Oshin’s claim to the title, has been filed in court and is scheduled for hearing on October 8, 2025.
The title of Moguniseja holds deep traditional and cultural significance in Mobalufon and is central to the community’s traditional leadership. The selection process is guided by a rotational system among the ruling houses, in line with ancestral customs and the Ogun State chieftaincy laws.
Reaffirming their commitment to due process, the Iseja Ruling Families emphasized their resolve to preserve the sanctity of the Moguniseja institution and resist any attempt to bypass established customs and protocols.
As of the time of this report, Mr. Jimoh Oshin has not issued any official response to the disclaimer or the pending legal proceedings.
