The Otun Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ijebu land, Ambassador Raffy Bell, have sought Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Akile Ijebu, Chief Chris Olufunlola Okunowo’s collaboration for the advancement of Christianity in Ijebu land.

In his welcome address at the inaugural Thanksgiving service held at his residence in Ijebu Mushin on Tuesday 21st January as a concluding part of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ijebu land’s Universal Prayer week he assured the association of his readiness to collaborate with the Asiwaju  to move CAN forward.

Further to this effect he visited the Asiwaju on Sunday 26th where he expressed his desire to make notable contributions to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) through capital projects on a yearly basis and implore the Asiwaju to join hand with him in doing this.

According to him, he is willing to utilize his international experience and wisdom with the Asiwaju’s collaboration to ensure that CAN Ijebu achieves distinctive success during their tenure and hoped that God would grant both of them the wisdom and longevity to accomplish this feat.

Chief Okunowo, who was present at every residential visit to CAN stakeholders in Ijebu apologized for not showing up at the ambassador’s event the previous week but agreed with his proposal for collaboration.

However, drawing emphasis on the need to present a written proposal to the chief, the ambassador promised that he will work with the CAN officials to draw a written proposal for viable projects to look into and send it to the chief.

Ambassador Bell, who recently took over from his father, is committed to upholding his father’s legacy. His father was a strong supporter of underprivileged students and promoted unity among the Ijebu CAN community. To continue this legacy, Ambassador Bell provided financial support to four young students from different local governments, including: Ijebu East,Ojowo, the Otun Asiwaju’s  LG (automatically picked), Ijebu-ode LG, Ago-Iwoye and Waterside LG.

The Sage observed that Raffy Bell’s event was unique in that it focused on unity among Christian leaders in Ijebu land and was attended by all 15 CAN Chairmen from local governments in the land, including: Ijebu-Ode LGA: Rev’d Dr. Dele Taiwo, Ijebu East LGA: Rev’d Dr. O. Also in attendance at the event were three of Bell’s friends from America, Dr. Adegbite, Dr. Adenekan, and Arc. Fowode who said they came to give him moral support for the event.

Other notable attendees included representatives of the traditional age group Egbe Bobagunte (Males) and Bobagunte Olu Iwa (Female) and other family and friends in Ijebu Mushin.
