The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has commended the National Examinations Council (NECO) for introducing Computer-Based Examinations (CBE), describing it as a significant step towards enhancing the credibility and global recognition of NECO certificates.

Prof. Arigbabu made this remark while receiving the State Coordinator of NECO, Mrs. Bukola Alloh, and her team in his office in Abeokuta. He lauded the initiative, emphasizing that the introduction of CBE aligns with modern educational trends and will improve examination integrity.

“We appreciate NECO for taking this bold step in embracing technology in examinations. This development will undoubtedly enhance the credibility of the examination process and further solidify the viability of NECO certificates. We assure you of our continued support to ensure its successful implementation,” he stated.

The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of synergy among all stakeholders in the education sector to ensure the smooth execution of the computer-based testing system.

Earlier, the State Coordinator of NECO, Mrs. Alloh, disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Education had directed the pilot testing of CBE in five subjects, including English, Mathematics, Civic Education, one Entrepreneurial subject, and one Science subject, in the upcoming examinations. She sought collaboration with school principals and relevant authorities to ensure a seamless transition to the new examination format.

The initiative is expected to bring efficiency and transparency to the examination process while aligning with global best practices in educational assessment.
