2025 Flood Alert: OGSG issues warning to residents, advises them to clear drainages and relocate to safer grounds

The Ogun State Government has issued a flood alert, warning residents to clear their drainages in preparation for the rainy season.

Mr. Wale Shonde, Director of the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA), announced this in a press release at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to Shonde, the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) predicts heavy downpours with intensity ranging from 965mm to 1805mm, which could exacerbate flooding in vulnerable communities.

He advised motorists and road users to avoid flooded roads during rainfall, urging Community Development Associations (CDAs) and landlords to educate residents on proper waste disposal and environmental safety.

Shonde emphasized that the State Government would take strict action against those who fail to comply with these guidelines.
