The State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Ogun State, Tijjani Rabe, has said enforcement operations alone cannot end drug abuse without aggressive public awareness.
Rabe stated this on Tuesday in Abeokuta when executive members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ogun State Council, paid a courtesy visit to the command.
The commander described the media as an indispensable backbone in the campaign against substance abuse.
According to him, raids, interdictions and arrests cannot completely eliminate drug abuse unless preventive education reaches every household, school and community.
He commended the chapel for taking the proactive initiative to visit the command and reaffirmed the agency’s readiness for a robust partnership.
Rabe assured the delegation of an open-door policy and timely, accurate information to support investigative reporting.
The Commander of Narcotics urged journalists to use their platforms to expose drug networks and advocate for community-level rehabilitation.

Fatungase said the agency’s operations have protected vulnerable lives and safeguarded youths from addiction, stressing that the war against drug abuse demands a collective approach.
She reassured the commander that members of the chapel remain committed to responsible reporting that exposes the dangers of illicit drugs while projecting the agency’s achievements.
