Chief Rasak Adetubo Becomes New Baale of Odosengolu

Odosengolu community in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State has formally installed Chief Rasak Adetubo as its new Baale, marking a historic moment for the town. His appointment, ratified on August 2, 2025, reflects a seamless blend of age-old Yoruba traditions and modern governance practices.

The selection process was thorough and inclusive, with the heads of all four quarters—Itun Korodo, Aledo, Aleke, and Akoka—participating in the decision-making.

From the Aleke quarter, four contenders were nominated: Chief Rasak Adetubo, Chief Fatai Adetubo, Chief Azeez Adetubo, and Chief Muyideen Adetubo.

Following a detailed screening, Chief Rasak Adetubo emerged as the preferred candidate. Chief Muyideen Adetubo withdrew from the contest, while the other aspirants congratulated the new Baale and pledged their support for the community’s progress.

Chief Adetubo’s emergence underscores Odosengolu’s commitment to fairness, consensus, and cultural continuity. The process adhered not only to long-standing customs but also to the Ogun State Obas and Chiefs Law of 2021, which outlines the selection, appointment, and recognition of traditional rulers in line with contemporary realities.

This development sets a strong example for other communities in the state, proving that traditional authority, community participation, and state regulation can work hand-in-hand to strengthen cultural institutions.

The people of Odosengolu now look forward to a new era of unity, progress, and prosperity under the leadership of Baale Rasak Adetubo.
