Justice for Africans: CLAP Foundation to Deliver Legal Aid to the Underprivileged

The Clementina Legal Aid Philanthropy Foundation (CLAP) has officially launched, offering a lifeline to underprivileged Africans in desperate need of justice.

Born out of compassion and remembrance, CLAP was founded by a grassroots family from Remoland, Ogun State—now based in the United Kingdom—to honour the late Mrs. Clementina Daley (née Modupe). Mrs. Daley, a respected community leader, entrepreneur, and humanitarian, was celebrated for her fairness, resilience, and deep commitment to helping others.

CLAP’s mission is clear: provide free or subsidised legal representation to vulnerable Africans—especially those wrongfully detained, denied fair hearings, or unable to meet bail conditions due to financial hardship.

“We all know the tragic stories,” the foundation said in a statement. “Wrongful arrests. Botched investigations. Unjust convictions. Endless delays. And too often, it is the poorest, least connected members of society who suffer most.

The CLAP Foundation exists to fill the gap where state institutions fail—whether through lack of resources, corruption, incompetence, distance, or lack of public awareness.”

Founded by the Modupe family, CLAP is a non-profit organisation determined to restore dignity and justice to those who have been silenced by poverty. It was created in loving memory of Mrs. Daley, the recently departed daughter, sister, aunt, businesswoman, and Iyaloja (market leader) of London’s world-famous East Street Market.

Her legacy of compassion, fairness, and moral courage is at the heart of CLAP’s mission.

For countless Africans trapped in cycles of injustice, CLAP’s arrival signals a new era of hope. The foundation is calling on local communities, legal professionals, and international allies to help build a sustainable movement for justice and equality across the continent.
