Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Brazil State Visit, Seals Five Key Agreements

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived safely in Abuja early Thursday morning following a two-day state visit to Brazil, where he secured fresh commitments to deepen economic, diplomatic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

During the visit, Tinubu was hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brasília. Both leaders oversaw the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture — sectors the Tinubu administration has identified as critical to Nigeria’s growth.

The President also held talks with senior Brazilian officials and engaged with Nigerians in the diaspora, urging them to see themselves as strategic partners in nation-building.

He commended Brazil’s progress in technology and food security, stressing that Nigeria must draw lessons to accelerate its own development agenda.

Tinubu’s trip, marked by full military honours on arrival and a farewell guard of honour at the Air Force Base in Brasília, also included meetings with capital market leaders, where he hailed investor confidence in Nigeria’s reforms and pledged more support for the financial sector.

The state visit, officials say, lays the groundwork for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, and innovation, while reaffirming Nigeria’s place as a key player in Africa’s diplomatic and economic landscape.
