APC Demands Apology From PDP Over Attacks On Judiciary

FELIX MORKA

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to apologize to the courts and judges for their “senseless, irresponsible, reckless and unjustified” attacks on the Judiciary during the electoral cycle.

The APC made this demand in a statement issued by its spokesman, Felix Morka, in response to the Supreme Court verdicts on the governorship election petitions in eight states.

The Supreme Court yesterday upheld the election of APC candidates in Lagos, Ebonyi and Cross River states, while it dismissed the appeals of the APC candidates in Kano, Zamfara, Bauchi, Plateau and Abia states.

Morka said the Supreme Court decisions were final and binding on all parties, and affirmed the authority, vibrancy and independence of the Judiciary.

He said the APC had always respected the Judiciary and its role in resolving disputes, including electoral disputes, as mandated by the constitution.

He also congratulated the winners of the governorship elections, especially the APC governors, and urged everyone to remain calm and peaceful.
