An Elder statesman and the All Progressive Congress (APC) Apex leader in Ifo Local Government, Ogun State , Chief Joju Fadairo has retired from active politics.

Fadairo made the disclosure at a news conference held at his residence at Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The Tracker recalled that Fadairo was enmeshed in a public scrutiny when the PDP governorship candidate in the State, Ladi Adebutu visited him at his residence. A move which did not go down well with his APC Apex Leaders caucus.

Subsequently, the APC leaders dissociated themselves from the visit and called on him to explain the rationale behind hosting Adebutu.

However, the elder statesman who is a former State Chairman of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday said his decision to quit active politics was devoid of any hidden motives or external pressure, but one taken after deep reflection.

He added that having made meaningful contributions and fulfilled political obligations, he believe that the time has come for him to step aside and take a well-deserved rest.

Fadairo revealed that with his resignation, he would no longer be affiliated with any political party, saying “I am now a father to all.”

His words, “For the purpose of clarity and to dispel any possible misconceptions, I consider it necessary to clearly state that this decision is purely personal and devoid of any hidden motives or external pressures. It is a well-considered choice made after deep reflection.

Having actively participated in the political landscape of our great nation at both the state and national levels for several decades, I am convinced that I have made my contributions and fulfilled my obligations”.

He explained, “I believe the time has come for me to step aside and take a well-deserved rest, in line with the timeless saying that there is a season for everything.

Consequently, following my retirement from active politics, I hereby declare that, effective immediately, I shall no longer be affiliated with or aligned to any political party”.

He noted, “I will henceforth assume the role of a father to all, maintaining neutrality and offering goodwill without partisan inclination”.

“I will continue to work for the progress of my community and the state and have more time to discharge my traditional responsibilities as the Asiwaju of Ifoland and Fiwagbayi of Egbaland as well as service to the Almighty God in church,” Fadairo concluded.
