Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Member representing Abeokuta South at the House of Representatives, Afolabi Afuape have hailed the conduct of the Presidential Primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State.
The duo stormed their ward 6, Itoko Abeokuta, the State capital to show support for the president by participating in the exercises.
Amosun and Afuape joined the mammoth crowd who gathered in a straight line through option A4 to affirmed the candidacy of Tinubu as the Presidential candidate of APC in the coming 2027 general elections.
The former Governor while speaking to journalists after the exercise, described the massive turnout as a special and a demonstration that Nigerians are for President Tinubu and APC.
He said “Well, you know today is very special. Today is for the President, and we all must come out to come and show and demonstrate that yes, we are for the President, we are for APC. And uh, that’s why I’m here”.
“But today, all of us in Nigeria, not just this place, every ward in Nigeria is doing this, and we have to come and, uh, participate and do our bit too. And that’s why I’m here. And I’m happy with our people. You see they are very excited, they are very eager to be part of what is going on”, he stated.
Amosun added, “Oh, clearly, yes! You could see. I mean, it’s you that I should ask, that you’ve been going round. Are you satisfied with what you’ve seen? We are orderly, and that’s how it should be. So, and all of us, you know, we are speaking with one voice, no division. We are for Mr. President today”.
On the Governorship primarily days ago, Amosun said “You know we did the one for the Governor, So, all of us, we’re in sync, we have all taken that position so it’s just to do what we call, uh… so just reaffirm what we’ve done, and that is what’s happening.
Afuape while also speaking, said the massive crowd showed the acceptability of President Tinubu across the country.
He said “Well, let me first and foremost thank the people of Ward 6 for turning out in mass to come and vote for the President, for the hope of the country. We have started the process few weeks ago, we wouldn’t have seen this kind of turnout. This is showing the acceptability of our President.
More importantly, I want to appreciate the former Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for taking part in this exercise for the very first time. It is also a good omen that our President is acceptable to all and sundry. And I know that most people that are here also came, came to come and show solidarity for the President”.
He added “We will continue to do our best, and I’m assuring everyone that this Ward will turn out one of the highest votes in the general election for our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jagaban of Nigeria”.
