A devastating attack occurred in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, in the early hours of Thursday, at about 12:30 a.m.
Suspected bandits stormed the community, killing one person and abducting at least 10 individuals, including a former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (retd) ¹.
The bandits, who initially planned to operate quietly, began shooting sporadically after one of them fired their weapon, causing chaos and fear among residents. In a shocking turn of events, the bandits killed one of their own colleagues who had fired the shot, and then forced the kidnapped victims to carry the body into the forest.
The attack has left the community in shock, particularly due to the abduction of the respected former NYSC boss, who is known for his leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and philanthropic efforts.
Unfortunately, Bakori council area has been plagued by security challenges, with recent attacks resulting in deaths, abductions, and livestock rustling.
The police command in the state has been notified, but DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the spokesperson, has not yet responded to calls and text messages regarding the incident.
