Ogun Amotekun Prioritizes Safety, Dismisses Six Pregnant Female Trainees

In a move aimed at prioritizing health and safety, the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has dismissed six female recruits from its training program after they were found to be pregnant.

The State Corps Commander, Retired Brigadier General Alade Adedigba, announced the development following a routine pregnancy screening conducted on 125 female recruits. He explained that the decision reflects the agency’s commitment to the well-being of its personnel and the importance it places on discipline and professionalism.

General Adedigba emphasized that the three-week training is physically demanding and could pose serious health risks to pregnant participants, including the possibility of miscarriage or complications.

“Our training is intense and physically rigorous,” he stated. “It is our responsibility to protect all recruits from harm. This decision, though difficult, aligns with our policy of maintaining a safe and secure training environment.”

While addressing the dismissal, the Commander commended the dedication and enthusiasm of the affected recruits. He assured them that they would be welcome to reapply in future recruitment drives after delivery.

“We respect their passion and desire to serve,” he said. “Their commitment is admirable, and we look forward to having them back, healthier and stronger, after childbirth.”

The agency reaffirmed its dedication to conducting training programs that uphold high standards while ensuring that recruits participate without health-related risks or complications.
