Fusengbuwa Family Refutes Drum Beating for Next Awujale Selection, Calls for unity among members

The Fusengbuwa family has refuted claims that drums were beaten to signal the emergence of the next ruling house to present a candidate for the Awujale of Ijebu land.

In a meeting held last Wednessday at Adesimbo Tuwase museum and hall, the family described the act as premature and inappropriate, emphasizing that the town is still in a mourning period following the passing of the late Awujale.

According to the family, tradition and law guiding the selection of kings dictates that no steps toward selecting a new monarch should be taken until at least three months of mourning have been observed. Any move before then, they insist, is disrespectful to the memory of the late king.

The family further emphasized that the most critical priority during this mourning period is fostering unity within the Fusengbuwa lineage.

They called on all factions—namely the Dr. Hassan group, the Dokun Ajidagba group, and any other—to come together and reconcile their differences in the interest of the family’s collective progress.

Present at the meeting were; His royal Highness, Oba Sikiru Kayode Okuribido. Dagburewe of Idowa, His royal Highness, Oba Adenola Osunsami, the Aladeken of Oke Ako, His royal Highness, Oba Munirudeen Adeposi Bashorun, the Orugbogbo of Imoru, His royal Highness Oba Rasheed cossy Salami, the Saderenren of Isonyin., Hon. Justice Lamina Adetoye, Oba onirete of Irete and Chief Fassy Yusuf, the Bagbimo of Ijebu land, Pastor Bola Salami, the General Secretary, Engr. Kayode Shote, Otunba Akinola Odedina, Otunba Giwa Adesanya Yusuf and many other notable elders among the Fusengbuwa family lineage.
