New Ogun Commissioner of Police
Ojajuni Resumes
The new Commissioner of Police, Ogun state command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has resumed official duties at the command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, Monday.
CP Ojajuni, who before his appointment was the Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL, Nigeria National Central Bureau, replaces newly decorated AIG Lanre Ogunlowo.
Speaking with newsmen, Ojajuni stated that his past experience at the command will be valuable in tackling insecurity in the state, saying that the policy direction of the Inspection General of Police will be his guiding principles, and cornerstone of his administration.
He therefore declared zero tolerance for abuse of power, indiscipline, violations of human rights and corruption within his personnel.
“The Inspector-General of Police also made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for abuse of office, indiscipline, incivility towards members of the public, violations of human rights, and corruption. These directives are sacrosanct and I assure you that I will implement them fully and without compromise.
“Discipline remains the bedrock of the Nigeria Police Force. I will not condone indiscipline among officers and men under my command. Professionalism, respect for human dignity and strict adherence to the rule of law must define our conduct at all times.
“I enjoin all officers and men to treat members of the public with dignity, courtesy, and the utmost respect. We must remain professional in the discharge of our duties. Respect, as they say, is reciprocal.
“Therefore, I also urge members of the public to engage with the Police and other security agencies with civility and mutual respect. See us as partners and work hand in hand with us in our shared responsibility of maintaining law and order.
“Let me reiterate that the few bad eggs within our ranks will not be allowed to drag the good name of the Force into disrepute. I encourage both officers and members of the public to remain vigilant and report any wrongdoing through the appropriate channels.
“The peace and security of the people of Ogun State remain my paramount agenda. I assure you that I will be accessible, responsive and committed to proactive policing strategies that will guarantee safety across the State.
“My administration will also be inclusive. All stakeholders will be given a sense of belonging as we work collectively towards a safer Ogun State. We will deepen collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, the media and other security agencies.
“Fairness, justice and equity will guide all our actions. I therefore implore members of the public to continue to support the Police by providing credible and timely information that will assist us in effectively combating crime”, he said.
