The Kogi State Government has taken a drastic measure to enforce its policy of updating staff records by withholding the salaries of 231 civil servants who failed to comply.
The State Head of Service, Mrs. Hannah Odiyo, announced this in Lokoja during the launch of the State Identity Cards for staff.
She said the policy was aimed at verifying the authenticity of the staff data and ensuring proper planning by the government, especially during a transition period.
She added that her office had sent out a Bio Data Form to all MDAs in May 2022, but 231 staff did not return the form or show up for the updated records exercise.
Also, she wondered if they were ghost workers and said their salaries had been suspended since November 2023.
The Permanent Secretary of REPA, Mrs Shuaib Memunat Dede, therefore praised the Head of Service for her initiative and diligence in carrying out the project.
