Ogun Women Run 2026 holds Tomorrow

The 4th edition of Ogun Women Run will be coming up in Abeokuta, the State Capital tomorrow ( Saturday).

The 5km race which is being organized by Brussels Sporting Management is majorly for women and it will kick start from Sapon area and terminated at M.K.O Sports Arena, Kuto.

Speaking at a news conference, the Project Manager, Mr Emmanuel Odey, disclosed that 1,000 women have registered and 500 runners have collected their kits.

that the winner of the race will go home with N500,000 while first runner up will be given N300,000 and the second runner up goes home with N200,000.

He disclosed that every runner will
receive medal after completion of the race, noting that this year’s own will be more elaborate.

Odey noted that the organisers have provided volunteers to be on the route and four water stations will be provided for the runners.

The Managing Director of Brussels Sporting Management, Mrs Yetunde Johnson, said that this year’s is for all women categories.

She revealed the race is designed for fun and exercise, saying that it is the best time for the women to exercise themselves without no pressure.

Her words ” The Ogun Women Race is just to run for their health without no pressure. It is just for them to keep fit”.

The Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr. Wasiu Isiaka, revealed that over the years, Ogun Women Run has become an avenue for the State to discover talents.

Isiaka represented by his Director of Sport, Ogun State Sports Council, Mr Oluseyi Sonde, commended the organisers for sustaining the momentum of the race yearly.

He urged corporative bodies to continue to support government for the development of sports in the country.

” Ogun Women Run is an important race and it has helped the State in discovering talents “, he stated.
