Oluwo Kemta dismisses closure of Ile Ogboni, says Assembly is house of law, Order

* Dismisses purported closure of Ile Ogboni

* Says Senator Adeola is their son

Following purported reports that the Ile Ogboni of Kemta was shut down over alleged internal wrangling linked to the Ogun All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, the traditional councils of Kemta have dismissed the claims.

They described the claim as false and politically motivated to distabilise the Ile Ogboni.

The Oluwo of Kemta, Chief Abayomi Rotimi while speaking to newsmen at a news conference held at the Ile Ogboni of Kemta, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, said the traditional institution remained open and challenged those circulating reports of its alleged closure to visit the premises and verify the situation for themselves.

He said the Ile Ogboni is an Assembly of orderliness, governed by standard order and procedures, insisting that the purported claims of closure is the handiwork of unscrupulous elements within the community.

He insisted: “They didn’t lock any place up. At least you have got here. It was in front of you that we opened it with the key, and we got inside”.

The Oluwo also rejected claims that Kemta community had disowned Adeola, stressing that the senator remained a bona fide son of the community irrespective of his political affiliation.

While urging political actors to keep partisan politics away from the traditional institution, Rotimi revealed that “Yayi is one of us. He is our son”.

The Oluwo of Kemta explained that members of the community belonged to different political parties, but such differences should not affect their traditional and communal relationships.

He expressed worry over the circulation of manipulated photographs and artificial intelligence-generated materials, which he said could create false impressions about events within the community, dismissing reports that he had been suspended as Oluwo of Kemta.

He disclosed his recent meetings with the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, as evidence that there was no such suspension.

According to him, he had met with the Alake on Friday and Saturday over a township matter and had only recently returned from the Alake’s Palace.

According to him, “If I am suspended, the Alake is the paramount ruler of Egbaland. He should know about it”.

Some of the Chiefs of the Ile Ogboni also refuted claims that the house was in turmoil.

They also affirmed the Oluwo’s assertion that Senator Adeola is an authentic son of their community.
