Plans have been concluded by the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Ogun State council to honour the retiring Head of Service of the State, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, and former General Manager of OGTV, Mr Tunde Kassim.
The plans was revealed in a jointly signed statement by the Chairman of the council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, and the Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun and made available to journalists on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the State capital.
The event, according to the statement is being organised in recognition of the immense contributions of the two distinguished personalities to journalism, public administration and the development of Ogun State.
The council described Onasanya as a dedicated and consummate administrator whose professionalism, commitment to service delivery and exemplary leadership remained inspiring within and outside the public service.
The statement noted that his successful and distinguished career in the Ogun State Public/Civil Service culminated in a remarkable tenure as the Head of Service.
The union also praised Kassim for his impactful contributions to the media industry and his role in mentoring younger journalists and media professionals during his years of service at OGTV.
The statement added that the sendforth dinner would hold on Wednesday, May 20, at the NUJ Council Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
It further disclosed that Senator Lekan Mustapha, a patron of the union, would serve as Chairman of the occasion, while Chief Mrs Mojisola Oni-Quadri, the Ibuso Aje of Egbaland and Patroness of the union, would be the Mother of the Day.
The event, according to statement by the council is expected to attract personalities including, the NUJ National President, Alhassan Yahaha, veteran journalists, media professionals, government officials and other distinguished personalities who will gather to celebrate the honourees’ impactful service and outstanding achievements.
