Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the team is still awaiting the fulfillment of financial and other commitments promised by the Federal Government following their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed that the $100,000 reward promised to each player, along with other pledges, has not yet been delivered.

When asked by Chude, “Have they delivered the $100,000?” Ajibade replied:

“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it will be paid. They have not paid—none of the promises have been fulfilled.”

Ajibade captained the Super Falcons to a historic win in Morocco, securing the team’s record-extending WAFCON title.

In recognition of their achievement, President Bola Tinubu had announced a reward of $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment for each player. He also conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on both the players and the technical crew.

While receiving the team at the Presidential Villa, President Tinubu hailed their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage,” calling their victory a significant milestone for the nation.
