The Apex leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ifo local government has dissociate themselves from remarks credited to their Chairman and Elder statesman, Chief Joju Fadairo over the weekend.
It would be recalled that Fadairo while receiving the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Hon Ladi Adebutu at his residence, said that ” Adebutu will reach promiseland”.
A statement, which has went viral and received many backlash among APC faithfuls in the State.
But the Apex leaders who called on Fadairo house, debunked the statement , insisting that the statement was Fadairo’s personal opinion and not theirs.
Some of the leaders present are former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo; member representing Ifo II State Constituency, Folawewo Fatiu Salami; Chairman, Ifo Local Government Area, Hon. Idris Kushimo, former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon Adijat Adeleye, Chief Derin Adebiyi, Barrister Oluwole Oduwole, Aare tunde Alabi, Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele, Engr. Yomi Collins and Chief Mrs kikelemo Ajelana
While speaking to newsmen, Adeniyi said the leaders remain loyal to the APC, President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and the consensus Governorship candidate of the party, Senator Olamilekan Adeola.
” We are here to dissociate ourselves from our Chairman’s statement.
We remain APC, loyal and committed to APC. We are loyal to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and to incoming Governor, Senator Olamilekan Adeola.
Chief Joju Fadairo is alone and what he has said, we are committed to the success of all our candidates. We are going to work assiduously and ensure that all our candidates emerged victorious in coming elections”.
“We told him that the statement embarrassed us, we have told him our minds and he has apologized,” he stated
Oduwole who is also APC chairman, Ifo local council, said that the only candidate they are supporting is Senator Adeola.
He also denied any division among the leaders, saying they would continue to support the administration of Governor Abiodun.
“Prince Dapo is doing a lot for Ifo and he is our leader, we stand by his government. We shall deliver massively for our party in the coming elections. There are tensions, we just want to douse the attention”
To Ogundele, the leaders are refuting the statement by Fadairo, stressing that he is on his own.
“He is on his own, he is old enough to take the decision. We are refuting the statement. We are pledging our loyalty to our party. We have been enjoying dividend of democracy through Governor Dapo Abiodun and we will stand by him in all decisions “.
Oluomo said that Governor Dapo Abiodun has done well for Ifo local government
” We dissociate ourselves from the State. We will do everything within our powers to deliver the party in the coming general elections. Dapo Abiodun has done well for us, Senator Adeola has five projects ongoing in our local government. We will support them. We remain full fledge members of APC”
Fadairo while responding to questions from journalists, said that he apologized to the leaders if they have quoted his statement out of context.
He said he is for everybody and he is still card carry member of APC.
“I am for everybody and I am APC member. I stand with Yayi who is out candidate”
