2027: Town planner Babajide Rotimi joins Ogun governorship race, declares intention

The Allied People’s Movement, APM is gearing for 2027 general elections in Ogun State as an aspirant, TPL Babajide Rotimi under the party declared interest for the governorship seat.

Rotimi declared his intention on Thursday during a visit to the APM party secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital

While speaking to newsmen, he said that he was sent by God to take the helm of affairs in the come 2027 election, decribing his aspiration as God’s directive.

Rotimi cited divine mandate and timing as the basis for his confidence, stating, “I believe that I have been sent by my maker—it’s time for me to take the helm of affairs of the state.”

On the party’s primaries, he assured that he will be selected as the candidate of the party.

The APM governorship aspirant, said if elected his focus will be improving the standard of the State, particularly in areas like infrastructure and governance.

He disclosed that the State deserved better fund modification.

Rotimi stated “see how to modify your fund, see how to work on it and bring about a better Ogun state.”

When asked about his manifesto, he hinted that it was still a work in progress, pointing out a that his manifestos will be comprehensive and it would be for the betterment of the State.

He added his visit to the party secretariat was a familiarization meeting, aimed at introducing himself to the party leadership and members.

In his welcome remarks, the State chairman of the APM, Comrade Sanyaolu Abayomi, welcomed the aspirant to the party, assuring him of open hand to the party.

He also assured him of God’s involvement in his journey.

His words: “We believe in appearance, and by God grace you are in the right party, I want to assure you of our open–hands”.

The Chairman also noted that the party is not in the hand godfather, disclosing all effort made is self help to have a befitting secretariat.

“Also this our Secretariat that you have come, no one is bankrolling us, this is our Secretariat and it was secured with our sweat”, he stated.
