Ogun State Government has taken a significant step to promote development and peace in the state as it recently excised portions of land to nine villages surrounding Hill Crest Estate, located behind the Secretariat Complex in Abeokuta.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Mrs. Oyindamola Oyelese, who presented Letters of Excision to the representatives of the villages, said, the move is aimed at encouraging the growth and expansion of these villages, while also fostering harmony among the residents.
According to her, the nine villages that benefited from this excision include; Igbore Shomolu, Adigoro, Ijeun Adaranifa, Mologede, Agbon Olubunkun, Ateroko, Asamo, Igbore Ikumapayi, and Kemta Sowunmi, and they are expected to collaborate with the government to bring more development and dividends of democracy to the area.

Mrs. Oyelese emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among the residents of Hillcrest Estate and the surrounding villages while she advised the beneficiaries to follow the necessary instructions, provide the required documents to ensure the final gazette, securing the legacy for future generations.

The Director, Land Services, ESV. Adewale Adedeji, explained that the excision was necessary to allow the community to live, expand, and coexist peacefully with the government’s allottees at Hillcrest Estate. He noted that the acquisition of land for developmental purposes has been ongoing since the state’s creation in 1976.
The beneficiaries, represented by Chief Aremu Adekunle and Chief Nofiu Ogunrinde, Baales from Agbon Olubunkun and Asamo respectively, expressed their gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his kind gesture. They promised to support the government’s developmental efforts in the area.
Sagebits noted that this development is a testament to the state government’s commitment to promoting peace, harmony, and development in Ogun State. By providing land to these villages, the government is empowering them to grow and thrive, while also fostering a sense of community and cooperation.
