A House of Representatives candidate under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, Hon Ajibade Aderemi Henry Mautin has promised to provide effective representation and initiate programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents if elected in the 2027 general elections.
The candidate, who made the pledge while outlining his agenda for the constituency, said his decision to contest was driven by what he described as the need to liberate the people from “bad governance and oppressive leadership” which, according to him, had affected the constituency for a long time.
He identified healthcare, agriculture, education and economic empowerment as some of the key areas he intends to prioritise if elected.
According to him, he would work towards providing adequate healthcare facilities across the constituency and ensure that existing facilities function optimally to meet the needs of residents.
He also promised to provide grants and accessible loans to hardworking women in the constituency to enable them expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Hon. Ajibade said farmers would also benefit from his administration through the provision of fertilisers and other agricultural support aimed at increasing food production and improving the income of farmers.
On education, he pledged to facilitate the provision of school buses for students, particularly to reduce the risk of avoidable road accidents involving schoolchildren.
He further promised to use the legislative office to facilitate developmental projects capable of improving infrastructure and the general wellbeing of constituents.
The NDC candidate criticised what he described as the failure of successive political leaders to deliver on campaign promises, saying residents were becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the political establishment.
He said, “Our people are tired of the old politicians that have kept us in abject poverty over the years with their failed campaign promises. Now is the time for a real change.”
Speaking on his previous interventions in the constituency, the aspirant said he had been supporting residents through various initiatives even before seeking elective office.
He disclosed that he had personally assisted some students by paying their WAEC and JAMB examination fees, while he recently donated N200,000 to a primary school in a community in Yewa South.
Hon. Ajibade said his previous interventions demonstrated his commitment to the people and promised to do more if given the opportunity to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
He urged voters to support what he described as competence, capacity and good character, saying those qualities represented the values for which the NDC stood.
“Other parties have been tested and failed in the past. Now is the time for a real change,” he said.
On the 2027 presidential election, he expressed support for the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as the best among the three leading contenders.
He based his position on Obi’s record as governor of Anambra State, particularly in the areas of prudent financial management, healthcare, security and infrastructure.
According to him, Obi’s administration recorded significant achievements in healthcare and road construction, while Anambra State witnessed improved security during his tenure.
He argued that Obi’s record in public service remained a strong reason for Nigerians seeking an alternative leadership to support him.
Ajibade therefore said the 2027 elections offered Nigerians an opportunity to demand better governance and elect leaders capable of responding to the economic and social challenges confronting the country
