I will continue to construct roads till end of my tenure – Gov. Abiodun

**Says his administration has constructed 42 roads in Ogun central within 7 years

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun on Friday disclosed that his administration has reconstructed over 42 roads in Ogun Central Senatorial District of the state over the last seven years .

Abiodun stated this while commissioning the 3.5km Adesan road project in Mowe-Ofada, Obafemi-Owode local government area.

The governor noted that the construction of the road was part of efforts to improve infrastructure and promote economic development across the state, insisting that he had remained fair, just and equitable in the distribution of infrastructure across the state.

The governor said that upon assuming office on May 29, 2019, he pledged before God and the people of Ogun to deliver on his campaign promises.

According to him, the administration has reconstructed a total of 1,600 km of roads across the state within the last seven years, saying that the achievements reflected the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing economic development in all parts of Ogun.

According to him, roads completed in Obafemi-Owode include the Abeokuta–Sagamu Interchange Road, Panseke–Adigbe Road, Journalists’ Estate Road in Arepo, Siun–Owode Road (Phase I), the revived Mowe–Ofada Road, Iyana-Oloke Junction–MAPOLY Road, Adesan Road, Kuforiji–Olubi Road, Adigbe–Laderin–Train Station Road, Sagamu–Ofada–Papalanto Road, and Magboro–Makogi Road.

He assured residents that his administration would continue awarding and completing more road projects before the end of its tenure.

The governor reaffirmed that his administration would remain committed to fulfilling its promises and delivering projects that positively impact the lives of the people.

He urged residents of Ofada and neighbouring communities to protect the newly reconstructed road and ensure it was used responsibly for its intended purpose.

He noted that Ofada was widely known for its famous rice and remained a strategic community bordering Lagos State with a rapidly growing population.

The governor said Obafemi-Owode served as home to millions of residents and businesses due to its proximity to Lagos, making infrastructure investment imperative.

He expressed satisfaction that the road had been completed, saying it would connect communities, markets and businesses while easing movement between Ogun and Lagos.

His words: “I want to assure you that we will remain a promise keeping administration and for those who live here, ensure that this road serve the purpose for which it was designed and reconstructed”.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, described Adesan Road as a strategic economic corridor that would improve connectivity between adjoining communities and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, enhance commerce, and ease transportation.

Also speaking, a member, Ogun Assembly, Damilola Soneye (Obafemi Owode) commended the governor for reconstructing a major community road.

Soneye said the project had transformed transportation, improved livelihoods and significantly increased property values.

“This road was in a deplorable condition for years, making movement difficult for motorists and residents before the intervention of Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s administration. The newly completed road has brought relief to commuters and residents while opening up the area for greater economic activities,”he said.

Also, the member representing Obafemi-Owode, Odeda and Abeokuta North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba, applauded the governor for delivering yet another strategic infrastructure project, describing it as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

In his remarks, the Olu of Mowe, Oba Oriyomi Yahaya, commended Governor Abiodun for fulfilling his campaign promise to the people of Mowe and appealed to him to also reconstruct the town’s market to further stimulate commerce and economic growth.
