Ogun 2027: APM intensifies grassroots mobilisation, Flags Off Ogun West Senatorial Campaign

* Unveils Itakpe As Senatorial Candidate

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has flagged off its senatorial campaign in Ogun West ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party’s candidates promising to prioritise infrastructural development and address the needs of residents across the district.

The campaign flag-off, held in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Tuesday featured the unveiling of the party’s senatorial candidate, Abiola Oluwayemisi Itakpe.

Party leaders and supporters at the event called on the people of Ogun West to support the APM in the forthcoming elections.

The party’s governorship candidate, Prince Babajide Rotimi urged residents of Ogun West Senatorial District to vote for the party’s candidates in the 2027 general election, saying their emergence would pave the way for meaningful development in the area.

He called on the electorate to support the APM, stressing that the district needed purposeful leadership capable of addressing its developmental challenges.

“I urge the people of Ogun West to support the APM and vote for our candidates in 2027. We are committed to bringing reasonable development to the area and improving the lives of our people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the party, Abayomi Sanyaolu, said President Bola Tinubu has nothing more to offer Nigeria, urging Nigerians to consider Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for the presidency in the 2027 general election.

Sanyaolu advocated a change in national leadership and called for the emergence of a new generation of leaders.

According to him, Nigeria needs a leader who understands the challenges facing ordinary citizens and is committed to prioritising their welfare, insisting that the country’s next president should be someone with the energy and capacity to address its development challenges.

The APM chairman expressed confidence in Makinde’s prospects ahead of the 2027 election, describing the Oyo State governor as an experienced politician whose record in public service, in his assessment, had prepared him for leadership at the national level.

He said “In my opinion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should complete his tenure and allow a new generation of leadership to emerge, with Governor Seyi Makinde given the opportunity to continue the work of national development.

“I want to talk about the presidential candidate of our great party, Engineer Seyi Makinde, whom I believe will emerge as Nigeria’s president in 2027, whether people believe it or not.

“I am not condemning anybody. I am simply expressing my political opinion. We need a leader who can move around, interact with ordinary Nigerians and understand their day-to-day challenges rather than remain behind closed doors,” he said.

He also urged voters in Ogun Central Senatorial District to scrutinise candidates seeking their votes in 2027, while appealing to women to support female candidates they considered capable of representing their interests and addressing their concerns.

In her address APM Ogun West senatorial candidate, Itakpe, pledged to promote infrastructural development across Ogun West if elected, saying she would work towards ensuring that communities in the district received greater attention.

She said, “My priority will be to promote infrastructural development across Ogun West. I will work to ensure that the needs of our communities receive the attention they deserve and that our people benefit from meaningful development projects.”

The candidates urged the electorate to support the party in the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that their emergence would provide an opportunity to address infrastructure deficits and advance development across Ogun West.

The candidate of the party representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal constituency,
Mrs Agboyinu Temitope Senami, pledged to provide effective and quality representation to her constituency if elected in the forthcoming election.

Senami gave the assurance while expressing her commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of the people, stressing that their welfare and development would remain her priorities if she secures victory at the polls.

She said, “If I emerge victorious in the election, I will ensure proper representation for my constituents and work towards bringing total development to the constituency.”
