The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, on Tuesday visited Professor Iyabo Obasanjo and seeks her support for the governorship election.
Adeola while acknowledging the impacts of Prof. Obasanjo through her Iyaniwura Foundation, pledged to align with her blueprint and visions, if emerges as governor of the state.
Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, also assured that Obasanjo’s manifesto and political direction would be integrated into his agenda ahead of the 2027 election.
The federal lawmaker gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to Obasanjo Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the State capital.
Senator Adeola noted that Prof. Obasanjo after the decision of the party, acknowledged it and declared her full support for him, adding that she was among the first to congratulate him after his emergence.
The APC governorship candidate, promised to foster unity within the party, pledged to work closely with the former senator and her team.
He assured that her political structure would be carried along in his campaign, noting that her vision and manifesto would be integrated into his campaign framework.
Senator Adeola “You acknowledged the party’s pronouncement of the party and declared your respect for the decision and declare your support. Immediately after you congratulated me, and I was truly excited. I want to promise that at any given opportunity, I will be there for you. I am here as a son of the family to give assurance that we will work together. Everything is on the table”.
According to him, “I am ready to inherit your manifesto. I will work in line with your vision. One, two or three people from your group must be part of my campaign team. Nobody will be left out,” .
Senator Adeola also dismissed suggestions of internal rifts within the party, insisting that the meeting was not convened for reconciliation.
“This is not a reconciliation meeting because there is no fight, there is need for cohesion and collective effort ahead of the polls’.
Senator Adeola visited Obasanjo in company of key political figures in the state, including former Deputy Governor Salmot Badru, former APC Chairman Derin Odebiyi, Commissioner for Women Affairs Adijat Adeleye, Commissioner for Budget and Planning Olaolu Olabimtan, Commissioner for Housing Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, former Senator Lekan Mustapha, among others.
Prof. Obasanjo while speaking earlier, thanked Senator Adeola and his entourage for paying her visit.
She told Senator Adeola that he called all her campaign team to meet with him when the meeting was scheduled.
