I will prioritise payment of pensioners’ entitlements, workers welfare, others, if elected – Adebutu pledges

The Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu on Wednesday pledged to pay workers’ and pensioners’ entitlements, end what he described as double taxation imposed on market women and other traders if elected governor in 2027.

Adebutu gave the pledge while flagging off his governorship campaign at the Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta, the State capital, where he unveiled his agenda for the state under the theme, Itura “A Call to Liberation.”

The PDP guber candidate also promised to formulate policies that would promote economic development, strengthen security and create a corruption-free working environment, while assuring residents that they would not suffer discrimination because of their political affiliations.

Adebutu identified security, local government autonomy, regional development, physical planning and transportation, rural and urban development, agriculture and economic development as key areas of his proposed administration.

According to him, other areas, include women, youth and sports development, as well as education, healthcare and social services.

Adebutu admonished the residents of the State to vote wisely , calling for massive support for the party for the next year’s general elections and also urged voters to protect their votes and resist intimidation during the election.

Also speaking, the Deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja ‘Yemi Showunmi-Kolapo, assured residents of quality leadership, saying the PDP administration would tackle poverty and maladministration if elected,adding that he was Adebutu’s turn to govern Ogun State.

Addressing the gathering, the Ogun State PDP Chairman,Mr Abayomi Tella, urged voters to support Adebutu, promising that the party would reciprocate the confidence with basic social amenities and good governance.

Tella also charged party supporters to protect their votes, while other PDP leaders used the campaign flag-off to unveil messages and mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Thousands of PDP supporters had earlier marched from the party secretariat to the campaign venue, creating heavy human and vehicular traffic along the route,the procession continued despite a heavy downpour.
